Spicy Cacao Tea

How about a spicy, aromatic tea recipe to help transition to cooler weather? Adding spices to your everyday cup of tea transforms a light, summery beverage to a warming, fall delight. Here we've added Chinese five-spice to our Cacao Hull Tea. The subtle cacao holds strong against the spices, leaving a welcome, lingering heat. A must try! Makes two servings.


Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of Cacao Hull Tea
  • 3/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice blend
  • 16 ounces hot water


Directions:

  1. Add tea and spice to a French press.
  2. Heat water until just boiling.
  3. Add water to the french press and carefully stir.
  4. Cover and steep for 8 minutes, then press.
  5. Enjoy!


Pro-tips:

  • If your water is boiling - set it off the heat for a couple minutes before using.
  • You can steep ahead of time and pour into the thermos for easy travel.
  • Play with the recipe and add or subtract spice to your preferred intensity.
  • Use a French press if possible. You can use a tea ball or bag but you may not get the same results because the ingredients are too confined.
  • Don't forget some dark chocolate to snack on!
