After months of planning, packing, and one very long haul, Intrigue Chocolate Co. has officially landed in its new home: historic Chisholm, MN! 🚚✨.
The road trip clocked in at 33 hours door‑to‑door. It sounds daunting, but the miles rolled by peacefully thanks to plentiful roadside rest stops. Watching the landscape shift from evergreens to wide‑open prairies and finally to Minnesota’s Iron Range felt like flipping pages in a picture book of America. Aaron’s family had everything ready when we arrived: a cozy Airbnb, fresh linens, and—best of all—home‑cooked meals. What a contrast to food on the road! Their hospitality made Chisholm feel like home before we’d even unloaded a single box.
Speaking of boxes: our semi left Seattle a day ahead of us, but fate put us side‑by‑side with the rig in Fargo. The driver spotted us, waved in recognition, and—just like that—we formed an accidental caravan across the entire state of Minnesota. Watching that trailer roll ahead felt like following a moving treasure chest stuffed with chocolate molds, shelves, and a decade of business memories.
No good relocation story is complete without a little drama. Ours arrived in the form of a surprise plumbing leak—water dripping from the ceiling the night before the truck unloaded. 😳 Luckily, it was an easy fix. Crisis averted, lesson learned: century‑old buildings come with charm and a to‑do list. Good thing we’ve got tools (and patience) in abundance.

In just one week, Chisholm has already shown us why folks rave about Midwestern friendliness. There’s a quirky undercurrent here— an enormous bronze statue, a mining museum, an honest‑to‑goodness mine pit lake, and street art that begs for an Instagram post. We can’t wait to share the oddities (and hidden gems) we’re discovering.
Every day we unwrap another familiar piece of our chocolate world. All those pallets from the semi have to make their way upstairs—a slow, deliberate workout that’s equal parts Tetris and stair‑climber. But with each shelf that’s built and box that finds its place, the space feels more like the Intrigue HQ we imagined.
