The Recovery Hot Cocoa

100% cacao can seem scary because it is intensely flavorful and offers no sweetness relief. But did you know it has been studied for its many health benefits? We want to make this superfood in a cup more approachable, so we added some cinnamon, turmeric and black pepper.

A "superfood" is packed with antioxidants; cacao has over 40 times more antioxidants than blueberries! Cacao also contains polyphenols, which help reduce inflammation, lower high blood pressure, and boost your immune system.  Flavanols and theobromine can improve our mood and even provide some anxiety relief.

Here's how to make this healthy beverage.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon 100% Cacao Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric
  • pinch black pepper
  • 6 ounces hot water


Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to your favorite hot cocoa mug.
  2. Pour hot water into the mug and stir to combine.
  3. Enjoy!


Pro tips:

  • Make sure you pour hot water over the cacao/spices for proper mixing.
  • Always use high quality 100% raw cocoa powder.
  • Add a scoop of cocoa powder to your smoothie in the morning or sprinkle over fruit!
