Recipe: Phyllo Shell Chocolate Mousse

This quick and easy dessert bite is a decadent addition to your patio party this summer!

The flaky phyllo shell is a welcome crunch paired with the mousse.

Chocolate Mousse Bites
makes 12-16 bites

Chocolate Mousse - ingredients
    1 Intrigue Chocolate Spiced Bar, chopped (3.5oz)
    1 cup cup heavy cream, divided


  • In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup cream until steaming.
  • Remove from heat and add chopped chocolate. Stir until completely combined.
  • Pour chocolate mixture into a medium bowl and set aside to cool.
  • Add the remaining 1/3 cup of cream to a bowl and beat with a hand mixer on medium-high until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold the whipped cream into chocolate mixture in 3- 4 additions. Work quickly but gently until streaks have just disappeared.
  • Cover mousse and place in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

Whipped Cream Topping- ingredients
    1/4 cup heavy cream
    1 teaspoon granulated sugar

  • Add all ingredients to a bowl and beat with a hand mixer on medium-high until stiff peaks form.
  • Place in refrigerator to cool.

Phyllo Shells:
We bought pre-made phyllo shells for this recipe. You can find them in the freezer section of your local grocer. Toast them at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Set aside to cool before piping in the mousse.

Final assembly
  • Scoop chocolate mousse into a piping bag and pipe the mousse into the phyllo shells.
  • Place a dollop of whipped cream using a spoon or piping bag on top of the mousse.
  • Add toppings- fresh strawberries pair well with the chocolate.
  • Serve and enjoy

Pro tips:
  • Adding chopped nuts to the bottom of the shell before piping mousse gives an extra special crunch.
  • If you don't have a piping bag, you can use a sandwich bag and snipping the corner with scissors.
  • Mousse can be made a head of time up to 3 days.
  • Always make more than anticipated- these will be gobbled up fast!
