Recipe: Dark Chocolate Cardamom and Rose Overnight Oats

Are you ready to upgrade your overnight oats? We use our Cardamom Cocoa Mix and rose-infused milk to create this special recipe. It takes a little extra effort but your taste buds will be thanking you in the morning.

Ingredients:

  • (2 servings)
  • 2 tablespoons dried rose petals
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons Cardamom Cocoa Mix
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt, plain
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine rose petals and milk. Heat over low for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not simmer or boil; milk should be steaming.
  2. Turn up the stove a little to med-low heat and add cocoa mix; stir until combined. Continue to heat on the stove until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Once sugar has dissolved, transfer mixture to a medium sized bowl and place in the refrigerator to cool for about an hour.
  4. After the milk has cooled, add the rest of ingredients. Using a whisk, carefully stir until completely combined.
  5. Cover bowl and place in refrigerator until morning or up to 3 days.
  6. Add your favorite toppings or enjoy plain.  We added roasted pistachios, cacao nibs and frozen raspberries. YUM!

Pro-tips:

  • It's very popular to make overnight oats in mason jars. This recipe makes (2) jars; just split the recipe in half and add all ingredients to jars. Twist the lid on and shake, shake, shake! Store in the refrigerator.
  • Do not remove rose petals from milk; you will not notice them in the finished dish. They add the perfect amount of rose flavor; if you remove them the rose will be very subtle.
  • Creating your own overnight oats recipe is very simple. Just make sure your liquid, oats, and chia ratios are correct. You can use different herbs, cocoa mixes and yogurt.
  • You do not have to use Greek yogurt but we recommend anything plain. We find it's best to be in control of your own sugar and flavor additions.
  • Vegan? You can replace the dairy with any plant-based milk and yogurt in this recipe; our cocoa mixes are completely vegan and gluten-free.
